A Private Dolomite Chalet with a Sense of Place

Some mountain holidays are measured in vertical metres. Others are remembered for the unhurried breakfast, the changing light beyond the window and the evening nobody wanted to end. At Cesa del Louf, above Arabba in Italy’s Dolomites, there is room for both.

This private chalet brings the character of a historic Alpine farmhouse into a very comfortable present. It is a place for families and friends who want a mountain base that feels like part of the landscape — and somewhere worth returning to long before the day is over.

Old timber, natural stone and a different pace

Cesa del Louf’s appeal begins with its materials. Aged timber, natural stone, antique furniture and selected artworks give the interiors texture and individuality. The restoration preserves the farmhouse character while introducing contemporary home technology and underfloor heating.

Rather than competing with the scenery, the rooms invite you to notice it. A morning spent looking out at the mountains can feel as much a part of the holiday as a full day outside. Around the fireplace or dining table, the house offers the setting; the company makes the occasion.

Two connected houses, space to be together

The main house, Maso, and its internally connected annex, Masetto, offer two ways to plan a stay. Maso has three suites and sleeping accommodation for up to fourteen guests. Together, Maso and Masetto provide 827 square metres, five suites and up to twenty sleeping places.

The distinction matters when travelling as a group: five double beds accommodate ten guests; additional places are provided by sofa beds and single futons, with futons on open sleeping mezzanines rather than in extra enclosed bedrooms. Casalio can help you check the arrangement against the ages, preferences and privacy needs of your party.

Wellness on your own timetable

The official chalet website describes a private spa available around the clock, with a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna, steam room and sensory shower. There is also an outdoor Jacuzzi: a different way to enjoy the mountain setting when the conditions suit.

For an evening indoors, the cinema room adds an unusually tactile detail. Its walls use pressed hay and wildflowers, recalling an Alpine hay barn. It is the kind of space that makes a quiet night at home feel like a deliberate part of the trip.

A mountain stay shaped around you

The chalet stands around 700 metres from central Arabba, among meadows and woodland. In winter, the included shuttle links the property and village during scheduled service hours. A private chef and other additional services can be arranged on request and at extra cost.

That flexibility leaves the holiday open to different rhythms: a day outdoors followed by the spa, a long dinner together, or an afternoon with no plans beyond enjoying the house. Confirm the house combination, seasonal access arrangements and any additional services when enquiring, so the practical details support the stay you have in mind.
